The following has been issued by the DVSA regarding the Part 2 and 3 test changes.
We had hoped to reflect the changes to the car driving test in the ADI part 2 (driving ability) test on Monday 4 December 2017.
However, the regulations about the test still need to finish going through the Parliamentary approval process.
This means we can’t update the ADI part 2 test on 4 December 2017.
The car driving test will still change on 4 December 2017, because it doesn’t need any changes to regulations.
Anyone with an ADI part 2 test booked from 4 December 2017 can either:
Keep their appointment, but taking the existing format test
Move their test appointment to a later date for the new-style test
It’s important they speak to their trainer to discuss these options before they make a decision.
When the changes can happen
The changes to the ADI part 2 and ADI part 3 tests will now happen on the same date.
The earliest date they could change will be 22 December 2017 – but we can’t confirm the actual date until the regulations are laid in Parliament.
We’ll let you know as soon as this happens.
We’ll email ADI part 2 and part 3 candidates who have tests booked throughout December to let them know the situation and what options they have.
We’re sorry for the inconvenience the delay to the changes causes to those qualifying as an ADI and their trainers.
In the meantime, we’ll shortly be publishing guidance in one place on GOV.UK about how the changes to both the ADI qualifying tests will work.
