The average cost of car repair in East Anglia is £241 compared with a national average of £220 according to analysis from vehicle repair and maintenance website Who Can Fix My Car.

The South East comes second at £238 and the South West third, costing £231.

Northern Ireland is the cheapest region coming in at £180 followed closely by Scotland at £186.

Unsurprisingly, London is the most expensive city with an average repair costing £233 while Leeds came second at £214. The Scottish cities of Edinburgh and Glasgow were the cheapest at £166 each.

Londoners were over twice more likely to request bodywork or dent repairs while drivers in Leeds were 70% more likely to get steering or suspension work done and Liverpudlians were 30% more likely to request a replacement clutch.

The research also revealed that drivers in Birmingham were 78% more likely to drive a Jaguar than the rest of the UK while Scots are more likely to drive Suzukis and Subarus.
